The grote kerkplein is one of the special squares in Rotterdam that is surrounded by a rare history of architecture. The district heating building, Dudok and S.t Laurenskerk reflect the richness of Dutch techniques in the history of the brick.

This project is a fusion of traditional brick architecture and parametric design. Algorithmic computation is not only an abstract mathematical tool, it is in itself a way of design logic. By using parametric design power, it is not only possible to reform design strategies, but also the entire perception of architecture and it's boundaries. Earlier problems such as coincidence, arbitrariness and inestimability are thus completely excluded.

The story of the brick-going parametric is a project in which the facade of an existing building is redesigned with new techniques and traditional features. The façade design was inspired by the gothic elements that can be seen in the Sint Laurenskerk. Characteristic elements such as pointed arches and filigree work form the basis of the facade for Westewagenstraat.
